My interest in art developed in the late 1980s, when I visited art galleries and museums in the United States during my postgraduate studies. This fascination with art continued when I returned home to Malaysia. I began visiting galleries, artist homes and started collecting art. My passion in art led me to serve on the Board of Trustees of the National Art Gallery Malaysia between 1998 and 2004.

I enjoy visiting Hindu temples. This began in 1994 when my family and I were on a pilgrimage to visit temples in the Himalayas. When I returned home, it dawned on me that there were lots of Hindu temples in Malaysia that I had not visited. When I started visiting them, the zeal to do so in a concerted manner came about and I also decided to focus on collecting artworks of Hindu temples.

My Journey
My journey in art collecting started in 1991. I collect works of art directly from artists, galleries and art auctions. In 2004, I started collecting works of art on Hindu temples. This journey resulted in the Sacred Structures Collection. It has been a good marriage between my interest in art and in temples. There are more than 400 works of art in various media in this collection.
